Mit Sicherheit kein Risiko

Veröffentlicht von Thomas Stachl am 30. September 2009

This plugin adds the JW Image Rotator to the WordPress Media.

Table of contents

Description

Short Documentation:

After installation, add a post or page containing the short code [ slide]. You can add other narrative to the post.

Then create a gallery for your post by uploading images to the post. The image insert feature of Wordpress automatically creates the gallery for you. You do not need to insert the pictures themselves into the post.

Once you have your gallery created, you can add captions by editing the gallery pictures individually to add text to the Description field.

Description:

The inspiration for this plugin came from NextGEN Gallery which includes a slideshow. As I always wanted small plugins that doesn’t add unnecessary tables and an unnecessary huge amont of codelines I wrote a small plugin which uses the built in gallery of WordPress for slideshows. You can use it with the new shortcut for slideshows [ slide].

The options:

height: The height of the slideshow. Numeric only!

width: The width of the slideshow. Numeric only!

backcolor: The backcolor of the navigation bar. Hex code only!

frontcolor: The frontcolor of the navigation bar. Hex code only!

lightcolor: The color of the navigation buttons when you hover it. Hex code only!

screencolor: The backgroundcolor of the player. Hex code only!

screenalpha: If you need a transparent screen just set this option “true”.

logo: If you want a watermark you can pass the url through this key. URL to the image file.

transition: Possible values are:
“random”, “fade”, “bgfade”, “blocks”, “bubbles”, “circles”, “flash”, “fluids”, “lines” and “slowfade”

rotatetime: Rotatetime between the pictures. Numeric only!

shuffle: Show pictures randomly. Default false you can set it to “true”.

overstretch: Stretches the pictures to fit the player. Default false you can set it to “true”.

shownavigation: Shows the navigationbar. Default true you can set it to “false”.

usefullscreen: The ability to go fullscreen. Default true you can set it to “false”.

autostart: Starts the slideshow automatically. Default true you can set it to “false”.

flickr: Plays your flickr streem. Pass the RSS-Feed URL:
“http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=13085590@N08&lang=de-de&format=rss_200″

picasa: Plays your Picasaweb Web Feed. Pass the RSS-Feed URL:
“http://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/base/user/michalkrsek?kind=album&alt=rss&hl=en_US&access=public”

Installation

1. Install `wp-gallery-slideshow` through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
3. Change the settings through the ‘Media’ menu in WordPress

    I have just been looking at your site to check out the screen shows, they look really good for your site.
    Do you think they would be suitable for promoting eternity rings?
    If so which one would you suggest.
    Thank you for any help.

    hi!,

    great job with this plugin! i’m using wordpress 2.6.5, but i can’t see where is the painel settings…

    thanks,

  9. Thomas Stachl Says:

    To fix this problem you open wp-gallery-slideshow.php. On line 94 you have the following code:
    add_submenu_page('media-new.php', __('WordPress Gallery Slideshow', 'wordpress-gallery-slideshow'), $menutitle, 9, __FILE__, 'wp_gallery_slideshow_options');
    Change “media-new.php” to “options-general.php” and it should work. I don’t have WordPress 2.6.5 installed so I can’t check if it works.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi thos,

    thanks for your comment. Correct me if I’m wrong but you don’t use WordPress 2.7 or? With WordPress 2.6.5 you can’t see the control panel coz it uses a menu witch isn’t available in WP 2.6.5. I uploaded a version that could be compatible to your WordPress, just change your wp-gallery-slideshow.php with the one in the zip-archive. You get it here.

    It would be very nice of you if you could give me a feedback whether it works or not.

    Hi, Thomas! Thanks for a great plugin. I do have one question. I have the slideshow running on my sidebar. It’s working fine, but it’s showing my wordpress version above the slides. Why is that?

  17. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi Becky, thanks for that hint, I didn’t see it. I made an update and now it should be okay. :-)

  18. simon Says:

    hi thomas, really great plugin, but i have two things:

    1. the fullscreen button only works in firefox but not in internet explorer (v7).

    2. is it possible to display a message to visitors who don’t have flash? currently they just see a big empty space, but it would be good to say something like ‘please download flash player to see this slideshow’ with a link to the flash download page.

    thanks!
    simon

  19. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi Simon,
    thanks for your comment.

    1. I haven’t created the Image Player so I can’t fix the bug of the IE. But I’m working on an Image Player and it will be included in one of the next updates.

    2. It’s possible and I will implement it in the next update. As long as it isn’t you may use a background image on the DIV with the id “slideshow”.

    Regards
    Thomas

  20. simon Says:

    thanks for your reply thomas,

    i’ve been thinking about it, and the perfect thing would be to display the slideshow if the visitor has flash, and the normal gallery if they don’t. of course that’s probably quite a big job for you…!

    for now, the background image is good enough for me.

    many thanks
    simon

  21. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi Simon,
    thanks for that great idea. Maybe I have enough time on monday to get the next update done.

    <?php wp_gallery_slideshow(); ?>

  26. Thomas Stachl Says:

  29. frank Says:

    wp_gallery_slideshow(’slide=”1″‘)

  30. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hallo Frank,
    das Einbinden von PHP Funktionen funktioniert nur mit “& lt;” sowie “& gt;” zum Abschließen.

    Zu deiner Frage. Das Statement “slide” musst du nicht mehr extra ansprechen, da du ja direkt die Slideshow Funktion ansprichst. Du kannst aber alle anderen Einstellungen anwenden. Für eine Flickr Slideshow würde dein Code also folgendermaßen aussehen:
    $flickr = urlencode('http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=9927986@N08&lang=de-de&format=rss_200');
    wp_gallery_slideshow("flickr=$flickr&width=200&height=150");

    Wenn du direkt eine Galerie aus eine Post ausgeben willst, musst du die ID dieses Posts weitergeben:
    wp_gallery_slideshow("id=PostID");

    Beste Grüße
    Thomas

    danke fuer deine Hilfe Thomas.
    heir mei nerster Versuch mit deinem Plugin: http://pacura.ru/pictures/sunset-concert-kirstenbosch-random-pics/ ich haette noch eine Frage zur Funktionsweise: ich habe die Eisntellungen auf width=800 und height=600 gesetzt, sieht soweit auch ganz gut aus, aber was passiert nun wenn da ein Panorama dabei ist, also im Format 16:9 z.B.?

  34. ovidiu Says:

  35. Oscar Says:

    Hi! Wonderful plugin…

    I was wondering only how did you add music to the last sample?

  36. Thomas Stachl Says:

  37. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @ovidiu: Set overstretch=false.

  38. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Oscar: You can add music by adding the tag audio: [ gallery audio="URL to MP3"]

  39. Ovidiu Says:

    overstretch:
    Stretches the pictures to fit the player. Default false you can set it to “true”.

    [ gallery overstretch="false|true"]
    Natürlich nur eines von beiden ;-)

  44. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Versteh jetzt nicht ganz was du meinst.

    [gallery order="DESC" columns="5"]
    [gallery slide="1"] [gallery order="ASC" columns="5"]
    [gallery slide="1"]

    http://pacura.ru/pictures/sunset-concert-kirstenbosch-random-pics/

    oder mach ich hier einen Fehler?

  50. Thomas Stachl Says:

  51. simon Says:

    hi ovidiu

    it is possible to set the sort order globally, i have changed line 30 of getxml.php so that it sorts my images by the menu order:

    $thepictures = $wpdb->get_results("SELECT $wpdb->posts.post_title, $wpdb->posts.post_excerpt, $wpdb->posts.post_content, $wpdb->posts.post_name, $wpdb->posts.guid FROM $wpdb->posts WHERE $wpdb->posts.post_parent = $galleryID ORDER BY $wpdb->posts.menu_order ASC;");

    (of course, this will sort all slideshows on your website, but this is not a problem as you set the menu order for each post in the wordpress upload window.)

    simon

  52. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi Simon,

    it is possible to hardcode a order by statement. But I wouldn’t advise it because like you said all slideshows will order by this statement and you can order the images in the upload window. The second reason is that I added it on my feature request list and as you saw the last view times my updates come very quickly if it is a easy to implement feature.

    But for all of that I thank you for your support on that issue.

    Regards Thomas

  53. Patrik Vale Says:

    Can you tell me how do I actually get the images?

  54. Patrik Vale Says:

    What should I type when writing post and how do I link the plugin to my flickr album?

  55. Thomas Stachl Says:

    You can use it with the known shortcut for galleries [ gallery] but you have to add slide=”1″ so it looks like [ gallery slide="1"].

    flickr:
    Plays your flickr streem. Pass the RSS-Feed URL:
    “http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=13085590@N08&lang=de-de&format=rss_200″

    Write [ gallery slide="1" flickr="URLtoRSS"] in your post.

    [...] few features have been already implemented since the first version of WordPress Gallery Slideshow was released. But there are a lot of features which can be implemented in future [...]

  57. Simon Rohr Says:

    Hallo Thomas

    1) Was genau bewirkt die Einstellung “Show searchbar”?

  58. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Zu 1:
    Die Searchbar bewirkt derzeit noch nichts, habe es nur mal mit eingearbeitet falls ich mal eine Suchleiste integriere (Bildsuche).

    Zu 2:
    Das funktioniert leider nicht, da transparenz in den Player nicht eingebaut ist. Eine Möglichkeit wäre das ExecPHP Plugin, damit kannst du ein IF-Statement in den Post einbauen.
    <?php if ($nacht == true) { ?>
    [ gallery slide="1" screencolor="#333333"]
    <?php } else { ?>
    [ gallery slide="1" screencolor="#FFFFFF"]
    <?php } ?>

  59. Simon Rohr Says:

  61. Chris Says:

    Hi Thomas,

    I installed everything accordingly and used [gallery slide="1"] in my page. However, the player is there and tries to load the pictures but nothing happens. Uploaded to pictures which are shown under Media. I’m using Wordpress 2.7. Which image folder does your plugin use ? Many thanks Chris

  62. Thomas Stachl Says:

    [gallery] is the standard gallery tag by WordPress. If you use WordPress to upload images, the images will show up in your slideshow. Another possible way is to use a flickr feed.

  63. glou Says:

    Great plugin, which works well in combination with images lightbox plugin (it’s not the case of all slideshow plugins).
    Just a suggestion. I had a problem : slideshow xas working well with some posts and not with others. When it was not working well, I found that it was because images’ extension xas “.JPG” instead of “.jpg”.
    Modified the code :
    if ( strpos( $picture->guid, ‘jpg’ )) {
    With
    if ( strpos( $picture->guid, ‘jpg’ ) OR strpos( $picture->guid, ‘JPG’ )) {
    And now it’s ok!!
    Perhasps could you change this for a fututre release ;)
    Thanks for this plugin

  64. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Thanks for that hint, I’m going to fix it in the next update.

  65. Maz Says:

    Great plugin, but I also have a question

    How do you make separate galleries within a post and upload more than one picture per gallery at a time?

  66. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hey Maz,
    thanks for your question. At the moment the built in gallery function of WordPress, where the plugin depends on, doesn’t support different galleries for one post. A possible way would be to create new draft posts for different galleries. Than you just pass the ID of the post to the plugin [gallery id="xy" slide="1"] .

    In future I planned to extend this feature and a few other ones. But at the moment that’s the only way that might work with the plugin. Sorry for that but I’m currently working on two other plugins which I have to prioritize.

    Best Regards
    Thomas

  67. Nicole Says:

    Ich hoffe das hilft ;)

  71. Faisal Khan Says:

    Hi Thomas,

    I am so glad that you actually thought simply and made something wonderfully practical which is not only assessable for developer but also the End-User!

    Works like a fly! Now, I am doing the CSS styling, and I am sure it wouldnt be a problem.

    Def a donation-dent for this plugin!

    I do have a catch. Dont you think that writing “slide=1″ with the gallery tag everytime would make an extra effort from the user?

    Is there any way, that it comes automatically with the WP uploader or may be we dont have to write it?

  72. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi Faisal,

    with the new Version 1.4 there have been many changes. The problem with the [gallery slide="1"] ist that WordPress uses the [gallery] tag for a standard HTML gallery. I don’t want to disable this function so I had to take the way with a slide="1".

    The reason I said that there have been many changes is, that beside the still working [gallery slide="1"] I built in a new shortcode [slide] where you don’t have to set any parameters if you don’t want to.

    It’s still not possible to use the WordPress Media Library in a way I want. So please give me some further time on that issue :).

    I hope you enjoy using the new features of the plugin and wish you a blessed new year.
    Regards Thomas

  73. Philippe Says:

    Hi Tomas,

    I have been enjoying your plugin for some time now.
    Until a few days ago it worked just fine but now I have a strange issue :

    When writing a post my “Add Media” buttons are gone… they come back when i deactivate the plugin.

    Any idea how I can fix this?

    Best regards.

    Philippe

  74. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi Philippe,

    thanks for your comment. I’m sorry but there is no code which could affect the behavior of the media buttons in the plugin. So I can’t imagine how this can be fixed. You’re the first person where something like this happens.

    May you can give me a list of your activated plugins.

    Regards Thomas

  75. Alexander Says:

    Hallo,

    Gruß Thomas

  77. ovidiu Says:

    any idea what could cause this cosmetic issue? anything else works though: http://screencast.com/t/mGzr36NBhv

  78. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi ovidiu,

    this style is set in mpf.class.php line 140. But I don’t know why it shows up in your browser.

    Regards Thomas

  79. ovidiu Says:

    thx :-( it just happened after having updated all plugins (been on holiday for 3 weeks) might be just an incompatibility…

    like I said, just cosmetics, I can ignore it.

  80. Thomas Stachl Says:

    This is not just cosmetics if it happens with other people too I understand the poor ratings for the plugin. May you can give me a few more details so I can understand why the error occurs?

    Regards Thomas

  81. ovidiu Says:

    finally I found the reply button :-)

    first thing you could heck is to activate the plugin for the admin menus I am using, maybe its an incompatibility between those two:
    http://planetozh.com/blog/my-projects/wordpress-admin-menu-drop-down-css/

    could you do me another favor and check this page: http://pacura.ru/pictures/mozambique/ with IE6 from your side? I am getting an jquery error, and the slideshow shows just very small while working perfectly in FF3 :-(

  82. Thomas Stachl Says:

    You are right, it is not compatible with the Admin Drop Down Menu Plugin. I’m going to check if I can fix that.
    For now I checked it with IE7 and the slideshow worked fine. I may have time tomorrow to get me the IE6 and check it again.

  83. ovidiu Says:

    did you have time to check this slideshow http://pacura.ru/pictures/mozambique/ in IE6? I am still seeing the slideshow extremely small and there is an jquery error while in Firefox3 all is perfect.

    I just need confirmation that the problem is not in the client and maybe a littel hint what else to check?

  84. ovidiu Says:

    I just noticed that a page containing a slideshow, shows up as a gallery in the feeds, can this be changed somehow? I am just curious :-)

  85. ovidiu Says:

    one more issue:

    this plugin seems to interfere with my gallery display/layout.
    here is the page before activation of the slideshow plugin: http://screencast.com/t/I7eYlxp3n

    this is how it looks after I activate the plugin: http://screencast.com/t/EakPto9twl

    btw. I am using the cleaner gallery plugin too: http://justintadlock.com/archives/2008/04/13/cleaner-wordpress-gallery-plugin

  86. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi ovidiu,

    I checked it with IETester but I didn’t get a slideshow. It didn’t even load the slideshow.
    The jQuery Error is in Firefox also but it will be fixed as soon as I can spend some time for it.

    Regards Thomas

  87. Ovidiu Says:

    thx. I had another problem, respectively that this plugin seems to screw up my css I use for the galleries :-( I commented here with screenshots, but it seems to have gone to the spam coments, maybe you can recover my comment? commented today.

  88. Thomas Stachl Says:

    You’re right, this plugin uses the [gallery] shortcode like mine does. But I have a small hack for you. Just open the slideshow.php on the line 252 you will find the following statement:
    add_shortcode('gallery', array($slideshow, 'wp_gallery_slideshow_shortcut'));
    Set this statement inactive with two slashes:
    //add_shortcode('gallery', array($slideshow, 'wp_gallery_slideshow_shortcut'));

    Now if you need a slideshow just type in the new shortcode [slide]. It should work with that.

  89. Ovidiu Says:

    :-) sorry for doubting you, will make that adjustment tomorrow and check again, or maybe rather wait until you finish the version that fixes the jquery error?

    weird thing is I loved firebug but ever since upgrading to Firefox3 I can’t seem to get it running like it did in FF2 :-( msut be my fault…

  90. Thomas Stachl Says:

    You may try the new Version 1.4 Alpha.

  91. sandra Says:

    same problem here! (and i dont use flickr)

  92. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Can you give me a URL?

  93. Ovidiu Says:

    the gallery tag mentioned above will, if used on a post or page, show a gallery of all pictures associated with that particular post or page.

    That means pictures you have uploaded into your media will not automatically show up where you type in gallery, how could wordpress know which pictures to show there?

    The whole thing will work if you upload pictures while writing/editing a post, then use the gallery tag inside that post because all pictures uploaded from that post’s editing page, will be linked to that post.

    try: write new post, upload pictures, isnert gallery tag, et voila!

  94. sandra Says:

    Sure!

  95. sandra Says:

    another, just in case

    http://www.materia.sandra.cl/

  96. Thomas Stachl Says:

    It’s not possible to access that page, I don’t have any permissions.

  97. sandra Says:

    sorry, now you can.

  98. Randall Says:

    Thomas,

    Thank you for the plug-in! I agree that this “simple” way of thinking is correct.

    Now, of course, I would like to suggest a complication!

    I have modified the plug-in for testing to allow a few more options from the imagerotator to be accessed. It was not complicated to add “showicons” to the settings array, which makes a difference for me. Also I made some changes just using the default “shortcode_atts” array, and it’s no problem to add options using that. But why not add the remaining options from imagerotator to the array? Probably there are a few other customers out there for each of the options!

    Definitely donating for this plug-in if I can get it working in the published site!

    Many Thanks!

  99. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi Randall,

    are there many options left out? May you can post me a list so I can implement it for the next update.

    Regards Thomas

  100. Anthony Says:

    Hey Thomas, I got your script installed and it was working for a second, but somewhere along the line.. it just turned into a blank white space. The flash is loaded, but no slideshow.

    I’m using multiple loops if that matters. What could I be doing wrong?

  101. Anthony Says:

    sorry about the multiple posts..

    the url is @ http://thinkgreen.ciplex.ws

  102. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Multiple loops are no problem, your problem is that you need to upload images in the post where you included the slideshow. The post has the ID 308. Just use the WordPress Media Upload: WordPress Media Upload

    Regards Thomas

  103. Randall Says:

    Thomas,

    Thanks for responding. You are right, there are not many options for the slideshow part of imagerotator that you left out. I was confused by all the additional options for video.

    However, the ’showicons’ option is important, I think. I don’t need or want any decorations! If you could add that to the admin, it would be much appreciated.

    Also, while I was poking around the imagerotator site, I found this:
    http://www1.longtailvideo.com/support/forum/Setup-Problems/9117/Picasa-

    It looks like maybe it’s not a complete solution, but I thought it worth asking: How difficult would it be to allow a Picasaweb RSS feed as an option?

    Thanks!

  104. Thomas Stachl Says:

    It just needs a parser. Maybe I’ll include it in the next update but I am not certain.

    Regards Thomas

  105. Anthony Says:

    Thanks Thomas,
    it works great.

  106. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi Anthony,

    that’s nice to hear. Have fun with it. You may switch off the searchbar value: searchbar=”false”

    Regards Thomas

  107. Gaston Says:

    Hi Thomas,

    First let me tell you I love your plugin. Really cool stuff.

    I’ve no issues running it in FF but when I tested it in IE7 it only works the first time I load the page. Then, if I reload the page with a gallery or go to a different gallery within the site it displays very small images.

    Do you know of a workaround or fix for this?

    Thanks!

  108. BJ Woods Says:

    Hi Thomas

    I have installed this plugin to one of my Wordpress sites (using 2.7) and I cannot find the configuration screen you keep pointing out.

    It does not appear in Plugin options/editor, it does not appear under Settings > Media, or anywhere else.

    I need to be able to configure this plugin, but I am not great at editing PHP. What’s the deal?

    Thanks in advance for your help. This is for an important client project.

  109. Thomas Stachl Says:

    The configuration should be in the Media menu.

  110. ovidiu Says:

    thomas, do you have a changelog available somewhere?

  111. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Hi ovidiu,

    you’ll find the most recent changelog in http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-gallery-slideshow/other_notes/

    Hi….
    Brilliant plugin… it tooks a night for me to install due to lack of knowledge :)
    Can we bring only certain Flickr Set into one slide show. Because after i put this ‘Set” rss…. it doesnt show anything…

  113. Courtney Says:

    Hello,

    I am using WP 2.7. I installed your plugin, uploaded some photos — first tried just by going to Media > Add New and then within a Pages upload/insert image bar.

    When I put [gallery slide="1"] on the page where I want it, I just get a black outline with the loading animation. It never loads the photos. I’m sure I’m missing something simple, but I haven’t found it yet. Can you help?

    Thanks.

  114. Courtney Says:

    P.S. Is it possible to have multiple galleries?

  115. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @ azral:

    I just made an update with Flickr Photosets included.
    Regards Thomas

  116. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Courtney
    I need an URL.

  117. Courtney Says:

    Hello — I think you were trying to chat with me, but I had too many browser tabs open and missed you. :)

    Here is the URL – http://pennylarsenjewelry.com.previewdns.com/ (I just put it on the home page to test for now).

    It looks like it is calling the images, but that perhaps the folder structure is off somehow? Could it be because I’m using permalinks?

  118. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Courtney:

    You are using previewdns.com but you have set the http://pennylarsenjewelry.com/ as blog home so it produces image urls like http://pennylarsenjewelry.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/home-4.jpg which doesn’t work.

    Regards Thomas

  119. azral Says:

    Hi thomas….
    how to put a set into the slide show? do i have to re install the plugin?

    cheers….

  120. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @azral
    I would prefer to say update but yes you can also reinstall the plugin. After you have done so you can use flickr=”url to photoset rss” and it will work fine.

  121. azral Says:

    Thomas
    thanks anyway ive made it… i ve re-install the plugin…

    good job my man.!!!! thumbs up……

  122. azral Says:

    Thomas, if we use the the rss, its only play 15 image for the slide show right? is the any posibilities to play thw whole letsay 70 image?

  123. Vlad Says:

    Hi Thomas,

    I was looking at NextGen plugin at first but as I came across your plugin I realized that your way about it is more straightforward and less complicated than NexGen. However after installing the plugin it shows just thumbs from the gallery. Am I missing something. Could you take a look? http://www.moreymetal.com/

    Thanks in advance!

  125. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Mike:
    Du musst einfach nur die Bilder mit der Media Upload Funktion im Artikel Bilder hochladen: Media Upload

    Dann im selben Artikel [ slide] eingeben und schon funktionierts.
    Gruß Thomas

  126. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @azral:
    Please open getxml.php in wordpress-gallery-slideshow/org/myplugins/slideshow/. On line 87 and on line 117 you’ll find $items = array_slice($rss->items, 0, 15);. Just delete this and then you’ll have all images included.

    Regards Thomas

  127. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Vlad:
    If you mean the images on the first page you must edit the [ gallery] shortcode and add [ gallery slide="1"] you may also use the new shortcode [ slide].

    Regards Thomas

  128. Vlad Says:

    Thomas,

    I do have short code [ slide] there. If you look at the source of the page it has the javascript for JW Image Rotator, however the “embed” code is missing. I tried reinstalling the plugin, no success.

  129. azral Says:

    Thomas…. thanks…..
    but after i change that, the slide show is not showing anything just blank screen with the loading sign. But if i change those 15 to 1000, its only play maximum 20 images….
    any other way to increase the slide show?

  130. George Says:

    Hello, I ‘ve just installed the plugin on WP 2.7 and I have a couple of questions:

    1. I want to use it on the sidebar. How do I do this? If I use the Text widget I get the text of the tag ‘gallery’.

    2. I want to put images directly from a picasa web album but I can’t find where to put the web feed. Any help?

    Thanks!

  131. otto Says:

    Hello,

    Sorry for my simple question, but i couldn’t handle it. I just can’t understand how to put pics in the slideshow, could you please show me the the code, if the source of the pic is for example: http://www.pic.com/pic.jpg

    Thanx… :)

  132. Rade Says:

    Hello,
    thanks for this great plugin!
    I was wondering is it possible some how to have thumbs bellow big image, i like transitions and resizer but want to show to client all thukmbs also.

    Let me know is it possible to tweak code somehow

    Thanks

  133. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Rade:
    No as long as the image player is not reprogrammed it won’t work.

  134. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @otto:

    that’s not possible, you need to download the image and reupload it to your post.

  135. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @George:

    for your sidebar you can use the function: < ?php show_slideshow(attributes); ?>
    for picasa you use: picasa=”URLtoPicasaWebAlbum”

    Regards Thomas

  138. George Says:

    The plugin is working perfectly on Firefox, but doesn’t seem to work on IE(8) or Chrome… The only thing that is shown on these two browsers is this flash player star which means that the images are being loaded. But no matter how much time I’m going to wait, nothing is shown… Any help with this?

  139. shonna Says:

    i am having major problems putting the slide into the main index template, i used attributes code you gave to george but no luck

  140. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @George:
    That might be a problem of the player, but with chrome it works for me and I don’t have IE8 to test it.

  141. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @shonna:

    don’t use quotes and unencoded urls in that function then it should work.

  142. shonna Says:

    you are speaking another language to me..lol

    use this?

  143. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @shonna:
    if you want to use it in your theme you should use this function:

    <?php show_slideshow("id=1&height=120&width=220&..."); ?>

  144. Shonna Says:

    sorry about the many posts earlier, i dont know how to make the code show,

    anywho, i tried that code and this is the error i have

    Warning: Missing argument 2 for wordpress_gallery_slideshow::wp_gallery_slideshow_shortcut(), called in /home/sarahash/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-gallery-slideshow/slideshow.php on line 282 and defined in /home/sarahash/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-gallery-slideshow/org/myplugins/slideshow/slideshow.class.php on line 6

  145. Thomas Stachl Says:

    Sorry, I haven’ tested this function since I reprogrammed the plugin. So there is an easy fix for that problem, just open slideshow.php and go to line 282. There you have this function. Change echo $slideshow->wp_gallery_slideshow_shortcut($result); to echo $slideshow->wp_gallery_slideshow_shortcut($result, 1); . Than it should work.

  146. shonna Says:

    thanks, that took care of the errors but the pictures are showing up

    http://sarahashleybarker.com/wp/

  147. shonna Says:

    i meant the pictures ARE NOT showing up

  148. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @shonna:
    To get the pictures in it follow this steps:
    1. Create a new post.
    2. Upload the pictures in this post.
    3. Get the ID of this post.
    4. Write the ID of this post in your functions attributes.
    5. Delete this post.

    It is a bit difficult but it should work fine. I usually created this plugin to show a slideshow in posts and WordPress doesn’t have a picture gallery management at the moment.

  149. Ran Mano Says:

    Hello,

    I love the WordPress Gallery Slideshow plugin. Love it! But I’m having difficulty customizing it for my needs. I see there are many options, but how do you activate those? Do you place the code in the WordPress page … something like autostart=”true” >

    Or is that something I need to do in the Slideshow options / control panel under “Media” in the WordPress admin interface?

    If there’s a FAQ or sample config file, feel free to send me there.

    Thanks,
    Ran Mano
    rm@manointeractive.com

  150. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Ran Mano:
    You should configure the plugin with your default settings in the settings panel. If you have some slideshows with other configuration you can use this options like autostart=”true”, …

  151. shonna Says:

    thankyou! works :)

  152. Thom Cichy Says:

    Howdy Thomas,

    Great job man. I read all the comments so you wouldn’t have to repeat yourself but still I have a question that wasn’t asked yet and it’s a tricky one. I want anyone who clicks on the image to open fullscreen by default (just like a whole picture – slideshow – was a hiperlink). So I think i need to assign some javascript function recall to the flash object, but what is the function to call? what is a command equal to the “full screen” buttom inside the navigation bar?
    i look forward to hearing from you,

    biggests regards, thx !!! Thom :)

  153. mccormicky Says:

    Hi Thomas,
    One euro? Done! I was up all night trying to get a nextGen slideshow to behave and had to give up. Thanks for this plugin. Not only does it work “just like that” but I think my clients will have a much easier time using it.

  154. Eve Says:

    Hi,

    Is there a way to get the plugin to use full images rather than just the thumbnails?

    Thanks,
    Eve

  155. Steff Says:

Danke – Steff

  156. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Thom Cichy
    that’s really a tricky one. I’m going to check that soon and will come back to you.

    Regards Thomas

  157. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @mccormicky
    Thank you. It’s good to know that it works very easy.

  158. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Eve
    It should use full images, may you tell me where you have this problem?
    Regards Thomas

  159. Thomas Stachl Says:

    wonderful

  162. Alex Says:

    I’m using the latest plugin with the latest wordpress but I can’t see all the options like flickr, transparent etc.

    Also, the player only shows 2 images even though there’s more in my library

  163. Tigger Says:

    Hi,
    quick question, how do I generate with CSS a frame around the slideshow ? I can just not catch it with Firebug and I tried already a LOT ! Another question is, where can I edit the text that dissapears when you turned off flash in your browser ? I would like to edit that sentence. Thank you very much ! Donation promised !

  164. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Alex,
    at the settings panel you can just adjust the main options. If you want to use flickr you have to set it in the shortcode like: [slide flickr="URLtoFlickr"]. The slideshow doesn’t use the complete image library of WordPress just the pictures you uploaded within a specific post are loaded.

    Regards Thomas

  165. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Tigger:
    I don’t like questions which come with a donation promise! For your first question: You need to set a div-Tag around the slide shortcode <div class="slideshow"> [slide] </div>. Your second question: Usually the standard WordPress gallery should appear if you don’t have flash turned on. This can be a bug which I will check and update in the next version.

    Regards Thomas

  166. Sid Says:

    Thomas, this looks to be a very nice plugin. I just had a quick question for you. I must sound pretty stupid for asking this, but would I have to upload my images through the WP media uploader to have it integrated through the slideshow? I don’t really like WP image management system, so I would rather try to just load the images from a specific folder where I have the pictures stored.

    So I guess what I’m asking is, is there a code that lets me load the images from a folder within my server or a specific url instead of going through WordPress media?

    Thanks

  167. Dharmathai Says:

    Sorry, I haven’ tested this function since I reprogrammed the plugin. So there is an easy fix for that problem, just open slideshow.php and go to line 282. There you have this function. Change echo $slideshow->wp_gallery_slideshow_shortcut($result); to echo $slideshow->wp_gallery_slideshow_shortcut($result, 1); . Than it should work.

    I did this and it didnt work.. the gallery appears and functions perfectly though! maybe i should just switch off error messages?

  168. Dharmathai Says:

    should the comma after “result” be maybe an “=” sign instead.. sei das ein misdruck? istgleich anstatt comma???

  169. Dharmathai Says:

    i switched off error messages in php5 settings – i dont need them as iof a page gopes white then ill switch them back on again in cp and check if needed.. so long as gallery functions ok it isnt important..
    on my other site http://www.sak-yant.com (wordpress2.7) it works so beautifully – and now i got it working on dharmathai which is 2.6 version too! thanks for your great plugin. I shall link to your site

  170. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Sid:

    that’s not possible because this plugin is specially programmed for the WP Media Uploader.

    Hi Thomas,

    I’m just getting started with your plug in and it looks great!

    Two things I can’t figure out:
    Like the earlier poster asked about, is it possible to make clicking on the image take you to a full-size version?

    And can the caption/navigation be styled? In my current use, the nav on the right and left go out of the frame and so do longer captions.

    Thanks for any help and a great plugin.

  175. DouglasVB Says:

    Hey nice plugin!

    I have a question about the way the plugin stretches and squashes photos. For photos that are horizontally oriented (larger width than height), it seems that the plugin forces the image to fill whatever dimensions have been set in the WordPress Gallery Slideshow options page. This isn’t always desirable, especially when working with photos coming from several cameras with different aspect ratios. Is there a way to preserve the aspect ratio of the photos?

    I posted another question about the plugin and centering it in a page over on the WordPress support forums.

    Thanks!

    @fanny:

    At the moment it is not possible to set a folder as image source. You have 3 opportunities:
    1. Upload the images with WordPress Media Upload.
    2. Upload the images to flickr and add the flickr stream.
    3. Upload the images to picasaweb and add the picasa rss feed.

    Regards Thomas

  181. MacJedi Says:

    Thanks so much for your efforts. Since the update of NextGen Flashviewer, the slideshow is broken or at least near impossible to configure accurately. You have made it possible to have a slide show and use the new nextgen without havinr to compromise.

    I do have one slight problem… after following closely how to get everything working, I have had great success with it all except the transparency. I seem to have a black background for the total size of the player box even when displaying images that are smaller. So I can not somehow get the black background to show the page. no transparency. Is anyone else having trouble getting transparent background to work using the screenalpha code set to true?

    Thanks

  182. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @MacJedi:

    It would be much esier to help you with some more information:

    URL to your slideshow
    Settings of your slideshow
    Code of the slideshow you used in your post/page

  183. MacJedi Says:

    Code: [gallery slide="1" width="400" screenalpha=“true” transition="fade" rotatetime="3" audio="http://illusionproductions.com/main/wp-content/uploads/music/Firewater.mp3" link="file" columns="6"]

    url: http://illusionproductions.com/main/graphics-gallery/?preview=true&preview_id=136&preview_nonce=16edacb4c9

    Settings: Dimension

    Width 400 Height 300

    Colors

    Backcolor #000000 Lightcolor #e0cd2e
    Frontcolor #e0cd2e Screencolor #000000

    Various
    Watermark no Rotatetime 3
    Randomly choosen picture false
    Overstretch false
    Show navigation [checked]
    Enable fullscreen mode [checked]
    Start slideshow automatically [checked]

    I can’t thank you enough for this great idea you have come up with. As much as I love the slide show of nexgen, this just makes more sense.

    Thanks for looking at my transparent problem

  184. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @MacJedi:

    Use this code: [slide width="400" screenalpha=“true” transition="fade" rotatetime="3" audio="http://illusionproductions.com/main/wp-content/uploads/music/Firewater.mp3"]

    Regards Thomas

  185. MacJedi Says:

    Thanks for your efforts. I used this code and also used it without the align-=center but to no avail the transparent does not work. The second thing I ran into was trying to add an additional image. It was a png with transparency just to see what would happen with transparency but seems adding another image to the uploaded images of the post does not show the additionally added image in the imagerotator. The new image shows in the gallery when not using the wordpress-gallery-slideshow but it seems that all images to the slideshow must be added the first time and not after the initial creation of the gallery. I could be wrong however, I am not perfect so who knows.

    But thanks again for your effort in trying to help.

    Miss MacJedi

  186. MacJedi Says:

    OK Thomas… Adding new photos to the existing ones seems impossible at this moment. Getting transparency to work seems impossible. Using the NextGen Flash slideshow is at best a disaster with the newest release. You have a fantastic idea and I am not willing to abandon it. So I believe there is always a work around for everything that can make happiness during project developments and this is what I did. FLICKR is now the way to go for being able to add and remove images. As for the transparence, a compromise was made and that is a SUDO skin for the wordpress-gallery-slideshow. If I can’t have transparency I want a beautiful frame around my slideshow and so it is done.

    I think you have done a great thing, not working like I want it to but an answer to prayers non the les.

    All my warmest feelings to you for your efforts.

    here is my test page to look at again http://illusionproductions.com/main/graphics-gallery/?preview=true&preview_id=136&preview_nonce=16edacb4c9

    I am not yet very familiar with Flickr. Can I create different streams in Flickr and have a different set of images for different posts and or pages.

    Again thank you so much for your efforts, I look forward to see how you polish this project off.

    A big hug from me to you.

    Got it on the Flickr thing… create a different set in Flickr then view the new sets page and at the bottom is the orange rss logo… right click and copy the url. This is the next Flickr set so many different sets can be created for many different pages.

    Great job adding Flickr Thomas!

    You are the cats meow.

    Thomas,

    I put the plugin on the header.php template with the following code:

    I changed that other code on line 282 so no errors show up, but now I get square thumbnail images instead of a slide show. They have attachment ids and there is no slideshow (fade in, out etc). What am I doing wrong? I need this for a deadline tomorrow so if you wouldn’t mind helping me I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Hey Thomas
    I seem to have found as azral did a limitation of this plugin as it will only show at most 20 images when using with Flickr. Have you found any work around for showing more than 20 images?

    azral quoted below

    Thomas…. thanks…..
    but after i change that, the slide show is not showing anything just blank screen with the loading sign. But if i change those 15 to 1000, its only play maximum 20 images….
    any other way to increase the slide show?

    I’m really struggling to get a slide show running. What am I doing wrong?? I’ve installed it and I can see the slideshow menu under the media category, but how do I actually get it into a post?? [gallery] or [gallery slide=1] does nothing than show the normal WP grid gallery.

    sorry for such a dumb question Im a newbie to WP

  194. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @tom:

    If you need to use the old [gallery] shortcode you should write it like that:

    Sorry, of course you do, try this one

  214. Nate Says:

    Hi.

    I’d love to use this, it looks good, but I have no idea how to get it up on a post.
    How about you share a little incite on that to us new to Wordpress who have no idea what a “shortcode” is, and have never done anything involving a gallery on Wordpress?

    This is what Id like to see in the “Read Me” file:

    == Installation ==

    1. Install `wp-gallery-slideshow` through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
    2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
    3. Change the settings through the ‘Media’ menu in WordPress
    4. EVERYTHING ELSE YOU LEFT OUT.
    5. You now have a post with this gallery on it.

    Thank You.

  215. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @calle

    I think you didn’t use <?php wp_head(); ?> in your header.php.

  216. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Hem

    that’s not possible at the moment but you can place a logo in your slideshow.

  217. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Markus

    I have more than one because the other two are Flickr and Picasa photos. You can use that feature too. Create a picasa web album and write the rss url to that album in the shortcode: [ slide picasa="RSS_to_Picasa"]

  218. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @tom

    I think you didn’t use <?php wp_head(); ?> in your header.php.

  219. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Nate

    At first you have to install the plugin. Now you can change some settings in your backend through your Media menu in Worpress. If you are at this point you nearly have a slideshow in your post.

    1. Upload images in your specific post.
    2. Add the shortcode [ slide] in your post.

    That’s it.

  220. Nate again Says:

    OK, now I’m just being a pest, hahah.

    In IE7 the gallery shrinks when you refresh and also when you go to the post on it’s own page. It then displays in at like 50 percent the size or smaller.

    How to fix?

    Thanks, and thanks for the great plug in.

  221. tom Says:

    Nope its not that, well actually it could be as I have no PHP experience I just used plain old html as my header and saved it as a php. appears is nested in the tags – not sure if thats correct but it still doesn’t work if I put it in the tags.

    Any other thoughts?

  222. Wes Says:

    Hi Nate, I was looking for the same solution. Found that adding:
    flashvars.height = ‘$height’;
    flashvars.width = ‘$width’;

    in the flashvars section of:
    wordpress-gallery-slideshow/org/myplugins/slideshow/slideshow.class.php

    Clears the problem right up.

    Other than this issue, I’ve found it to be a great plugin. Thanks Thomas.

  223. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Julio:

    you need to upload the images in the post where you want to use the gallery.

  224. Saulo Says:

    I’m having the same problem as some other people: “in IE7 it only works the first time I load the page. Then, if I reload the page with a gallery or go to a different gallery within the site it displays very small images.” I tried to use Wes code, but it didn’t work, it shows the imagens as a simple Wordpress gallery. Any ideas how to fix this?

  225. Nate's BACK! Says:

    WES, thanks!

    Anyone else using that fix, be sure to delete the apostrophes (’) around $height and $width and type them back in.
    Just straight copying and pasting from here didn’t work, it made it completely disappear.
    I’ve run into the problem before, though, so I figured out the problem right off.

  226. raffaele Says:

    Thomas,
    Fantastic plugin. I do have one problem. Upon initially loading the page with a gallery slideshow attached, everything looks perfect, with the navigation correctly displayed at the bottom of the image container. If you then select another page, then go back to the page with the gallery slideshow attached, the navigation has moved towards the middle of the image and is displayed incorrectly. Would really appreciate your thoughts?
    Thanks.

  234. Mike Says:

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the great plug-in.

    Is there any way to increase the size of the captions the slideshow can display? As of now I can only get it to display one line, and I’d like to go to two or three lines.

    Thanks,
    Mike

  235. ionz149 Says:

    Cool plugin, everything seems to be working but I cannot get the slideshow to display more than three images (I have 5 uploaded). I am using this on a page so I am wondering if that may be the problem?? Or is there some way to set how many images to go through??

    The plugin is pretty straight forward so I am a bit confused as to why this is happening.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  236. ionz149 Says:

    Okay so I realized the two images not displaying were png files, made them jpgs and all is well. Now I noticed no matter what i do to try and re-order the images, it will only display them in the order they were uploaded. I am using wp 2.7.1 though so that maybe the issue, either way it’s not a big deal.

    Thanks!

  250. Greg Says:

    Hallo Thomas,

See http://www.convex-consultants.de

    Es funktioniert jetzt einigermaßen. Hoffentlich dauerhaft?

  266. Troy Says:

    Thomas, thank you for the plugin. It works great! I decided to make the change suggested by simon above. I only mention because this seemed sensible to me. In fact, that is how I originally tried to change the order of the slideshow (by changing the menu order).

    So I guess this is a request to make “$wpdb->posts.menu_order” the default instead of “$wpdb->posts.ID”

    Again thanks. Great plugin!

  267. Dawn Says:

    Forgive me for this dumb beginner question: How do I get the photos into the slideshow? I ‘ve got a blank slideshow on the webpage. I added the code: [slide] but I don’t know how to add the photos from my WordPress media library in to the slide show.

  268. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Troy:
    That’s a good idea, I changed that now in the trunk version and I’ll update it in the next version.

    Hi thomas,
    I’m trying to use your wonderfull plugin for my site, but I want it in my right bar and since I’m not a php programmer the example code you say: show_slideshow(”attributes”); means nothing to me.

    Could you please post me a complete and working example with some parameters inside to guide me?

    Thanks

  275. websler Says:

    Hi Thomas,

  276. omni Says:

    Is that pause feature possible yet by any chance? It would greatly improve the usefulness of this plugin. Thanks in advance ;)

  277. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Ray:

    If you want to use it with a flickr feed you write show_slideshow("flickr=URLtoFlickr");.
    Regards Thomas

  278. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @websler:
    Kann ich so pauschal nicht beantworten, da es bei mir funktioniert.

  282. tomiko Says:

    Hi Thomas

    I love your plugin. This is just what I needed.

    This maybe a silly question, and a documentation might already exist somewhere on your site, but I’m working on a tight deadline and couldn’t figure it out myself, so please help!

    How can I specify the order of the pictures in a slideshow? I changed the “order” when I uploaded the images, but they are showing up in a random order when I view the slideshow.

    Thank you in advance for your help.

    Tomiko

  283. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @tomiko:

    You can order them like you order your WordPress gallery.
    Regards Thomas

  284. Lee Says:

    Hello Thomas, great plugin. I have implemented the plugin in my theme using the – echo $slideshow->wp_gallery_slideshow_shortcut($result, 1); method. But my question is how do I adjust the width and height?

  285. Lee Says:

    Sorry for the dumb question… I figured it out. Thanks again for the great plugin.

  286. tomiko Says:

    Thank you for your response, Thomas.

    I’ve searched wrodpress.com for some documentation on WP gallery, and found how to order photos within a gallery. I followed the instruction and edited the code as below,

    [slide order="DESC"]

    but the images are still showing up in a random order…

    Sorry for the multiple posts for a silly question, but I need help!

    Thank you
    Tomiko

    ps, when I followed the link in your response, I got to a blank page.

  287. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @tomiko:
    I’ll try to explain how you can order the photos:
    1. You click on edit the post where you have your photos uploaded.
    2. Above the WYSIWYG Editor you have the “Add files” Buttons where you click on “Add Image”.
    3. A window opens. Click on gallery.
    4. You see all photos you have added to this post.
    5. You have the photo on the left side, next to this little thumb is the title of the photo then there is a small textbox and a link to view this photo.
    6. In this small textbox you write a number.
    7. If you have given a number to all your photos, this is your new order.
    Now you should be able to order all photos in the way you want …
    Regards Thomas

  288. ww Says:

    I’m sorry sir, but I really can’t understand what “You can use the standard gallery tag of wordpress to display the slideshow” means, I don’t know what is “the standard gallery tag”, I uploaded some pics in my site, each has its own names, and I’d like to use some of them into different slideshows, how could I do that?

  289. Jeff McNeil Says:

    Thank you for creating this SIMPLE plugin! I have used several others and out of raw frustration tried yours out. By far the quickest to implement and the easiest for a client to configure on their own.

  290. tomiko Says:

    Thomas,

    Thank you for the very concise explanation.

    However, even though I followed your instruction, the images are still showing up in a random order.

    But at least I know now that I was doing the right thing and it’s somehow not working. So I’ll think of something else.

    Thank you again for your help,
    Tomiko

  294. CAde Says:

    Thank you for speedy response sir. i tried to add the above code but still not luck. many variations were tried. there is only one post and when i head to the page it says =1

    I’m guessing that means the id=1

    is this what i am aiming for. sorry for my ignorance. very new to this all.

    Thank you

  295. CAde Says:

    ?php show_slideshow(’id=1′); ?

    I am using the “Wordpress Gallery Slideshow” plugin v1.5.4 and I have noticed that it does not work on IE8. I am using IE8 with all Windows updates and Flash 10.0.22.87 (just now reinstalled it, so it is the newest version).

    I have not tried it with IE6 or IE7, but my fiancee said she tried my website at my parents’ house and the slideshow did not work there either and I believe they have IE7.

    I am using it with a Picasa web gallery. The plugin seems to pick up the names of the files and the number of photos, but simply shows the wheel spinning around forever.

    It works fine in Firefox 3.0.10.

    In IE8, I get the “Done, but with errors on page” warning. When I open the error, I see the following. Please note that I have not altered the swfobject.js file mentioned in any way:

    Where did my previous comment go? I had a big long one stating that I cannot get this plugin to work properly on my site with the Internet Explorer browswer (v7 or 8). I am using it with a Picasa web album, which is set to public, and yes I am using the RSS link.

    Under IE it shows the black box and the loading wheel forever. It does show the correct image count (57 after I updated getxml.php) and the image filenames. But the images never appear and it just stays black.

    I’m using v1.5.4 of this plugin and it works fine under Firefox 3.0.10.

    I was getting a Javascript error on my site under IE which I traced to the Sashin plugin, but even with that plugin disabled the Wordpress Gallery Slideshow plugin does not work properly for me under IE.

    Hallo Thomas,

  306. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @scottwsx96:
    It would be very nice if you could give me the url of your site so I can check it.
    Regards Thomas

  307. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @king71:
    Zu Punkt 1: Das verstehst du richtig, alle Bilder innerhalb einen Post können in der Slideshow angezeigt werden. So wird es standardmäßig von WordPress gehandelt.
    Zu Punkt 2: Du hast verschiedene Möglichkeiten Bilder in der Slideshow einzubinden. 1. Möglichkeit die in Punkt 1 erwähnte: [slide id="ID_des_Posts"] du kannst die ID auch weg lassen wenn du die Slideshow in dem selben Post einbindest. 2. Möglichkeit ist ein Flickr-Feed: [slide flickr="URLzumFeed"]. 3. Möglichkeit ist ein Picasa Feed: [slide picasa="URLzumFeed"].

    Das sind die Möglichkeiten die du derzeit hast eine Slideshow ein zu binden. Weitere werden in Zukunft folgen.

    I want to put a flickr gallery slideshow in my footer… how i can do it?

    (i dont know php)

    Can you explain me please?

  310. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Andy:
    Open your footer.php and add the following code:
    show_slideshow("flickr=URLzuFlickr");
    You must know that this is PHP code so put that between the PHP tags: <?php ?>

    how should i write if im goin to get the images from local.
    should it be like this ?
    [slide local] or somethin else, i really have no idea.

  313. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @hanprat:
    If you want to use local saved images you need to upload them directly in the post. Use the mediauploader right above the left corner of your editor where you can see “Upload/Insert”.
    Regards Thomas

  314. hanprat Says:

    im sorry before, but would you give an example of a script that using images from local.

    how should i write html code in my pages to get them show.
    thx.

  315. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @hanprat:
    If you want the slideshow in your post you write: [slide], if you want it somewhere in your theme you must write the php-function show_slideshow('id=IDofPost');

  320. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @dres:
    Actually that’s not possible. But there is a hack how you can get it to work. Find a post where you don’t have uploaded any images too, upload the images you need as gallery in this post and add the id of this post to your [slide id="TheID"] statement.

  324. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @danielgc

    That’s the correct syntax, but you are right – it doesn’t work at the moment. I’m not sure what’s wrong with it but it seems there is a problem with fetching some RSS feeds via the WordPress RSS class. As soon as I found the problem I’ll update the plugin.

  338. Eric Morris Says:

    OK, how about some simple but decent documentation for the newbie? Like:

    After installation, add a post or page containing the short code [slide].

  339. Joni Says:

    Hi, the slideshows look great. Can the slideshow be added to a text widgets in sidebar and footer? And can I add more than one size slide show on my site — like a large for the post and a smaller one in the sidebar or footer?

    Regards Thomas

  342. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Joni:
    Yes that’s possible with the show_slideshow() function. There are a few comments in here which explain this function.

    It is also possible to show it smaller than in posts. I would set the standard height and with for posts in the options panel and deviating sizes in the function. For that you write show_slideshow("height=123|width=123|id=IDofThePost");

    You need the ID of the post where you have uploaded the pictures in.

    Bei Deiner Beschreibung hakt es für mich an de Stelle. Wie mache ich eine Gallery? Ist das eine Wordpress-Funktion oder ein weiteres Plugin? Für eine etwas detailliertere Beschreibung, wie man die Bilder in den Beitrag (Post) bekommt, wäre ich sehr dankbar.

  350. Eric Says:

    Thomas, I love the look and simplicity of your plug-in, but I can’t seem to get it working.

    Here is the link to my page (it’s my test site)
    http://markfive.org/wp/?p=52

    I am running WP 2.7.1. I have tried the most basic usage by putting [slide] in my post and inserting a gallery of a few pictures. I have removed your plug-in and re-installed it once already. I downloaded it a second time to ensure I got a fresh copy. If you click where the slide show should be you can see the box, but nothing loads. I have reverted the theme to the default to make sure that was not causing a problem. I have also tried linking the thumbnails to either the image file or the attachment page, but that makes no difference either. I also attempted switching my configuration from PHP 5 to PHP 4, again no change. I have left the Slideshow options at their defaults.

    Any suggestions? I am running out of ideas. I can tell your plug-in is trying to work because when I disable it the [slide] tag appears in my post. Also, your demo on this page works in my browser, so I know it is something with my site.

  351. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Eric:
    I just took a look at your site and it seems working, isn’t it?
    If not just let me know so we can go on.
    Regards Thomas

  352. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Dirk:
    Die Hälfte hast du schon geschafft, jetzt musst du nur noch die gewünschten Bilder in den Post laden. Dazu klickst neben “Dateien hinzufügen” auf “Bilder hinzufügen” und schon müsste es funktionieren.

    Gruß Thomas

    Gruß Thomas

  355. pixelpirate Says:

    Hi!
    Requires at least: 2.7
    Tested up to: 2.7.1
Einen Versuch wars also wert.

    Howdy, I’ve downloaded and am using your plug in on my blog, but I’d like to have a similar slideshow on my main site. I’m using a Flash slideshow right now, which I’m not digging. Do you have an option for non wordpress websites?
    Thanks.

    Hi Thomas!

    Thanks again for your nice plugin!
    Working fine now: didn’t forget the text for noob:
    maybe next week this one is rush…

    Still a question:

    when using flickr link,
    (finally understood that there seems to be a max of 15 pics to be displayed , is that right? (not a pb for me, just wanted to make sure)

    But can’t find the clue on how to order those photos? Tried in Flickr organizer, modifying dates, etc, etc: no success…

    Any idea or it’s random when imported from flickr?

    Thank you very much.

    Hallo Thomas,

    Vielen Dank fuer Deine Hilfe!

    It looks like a good plugin to me, congrats. I do have a problem though in that whenever I try to change any of the settings, they revert to the loaded default. Is there anyway to save these changes or should they save automatically? I am using WP 2.8.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

  372. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @David:
    No support for WordPress 2.8 so far.

    Sure, I can offer a non WordPress Version of this Plugin but that won’t be free of charge.

    @activista:
    Sorry for the late answer. You are right it will “only” display 15 images. That is a setting in the WordPress integrated RSS-reader and for now it can not be changed – furthermore it should not be changed to more images because it then will need more time fetching it. Hope this answer helps.

    Edit: I’m to fast clicking and to lazy reading …
    The order can’t be changed inside the plugin it uses the order it gets by the RSS-Feed.

    Regards Thomas

    Hi Thomas!

    Thanks for answer!

    Now the dirty question:)
    is there a way to change the rss order:))??

    cheers!

    Hello Thomas! I think this plugin is exactly what I need for a client’s site. Any thought as to if/when it will be WP 2.8-compatible? The main problem I’m seeing so far is that the sidebar with the “Save” button isn’t rendered on the settings page, although I can see the HTML in the generated source code.

  381. Thomas Stachl Says:

    @Angela:
    It will soon be WP2.8 compatible and it will also give a business support in a few days.
    Regards Thomas

    How does it work?

    [img src...
    [/slide]
    don’t work

  383. Joe Banks Says:

    Wonderful! Simple! This is nearly what I have been looking for!

    Recommendations:

    1. I would like to select particular photos (based on their IDs, rather than the post ID) for display (idea here: http://mfields.org/wordpress/wordpress-plugins/mf_gallery_shortcode/), and,

    2. (What @Farrukh was asking for) Be able to specify where the photo caption comes from. Right now, caption display appears to default first to Caption, and if no Caption, the File Name (yes?), but I’d also like to be able to choose Title (a.k.a. what WP uses as alt text) as the caption.
