This plugin adds a PayPal donation button to posts and/or theme.
== Description ==
Another small and beautiful plugin. It adds a fully customizable PayPal button to the posts. The only thing you have to do is put [ donate] in your post or in your theme. Via the options panel it is fully customizable.
If you want special settings in one post or somewhere else you can set some attributes. For example:
= Attributes to customize =
email = Your PayPal Account
title = The title of the page where you redirect your donators
return_url = The URL where the donators are redirectet.
cancel_url = The cancel URL.
amount = The amount you want to have.
ccode = Currency code (USD = United States, EUR = Europe, …)
image = The Image of the button.
= Customize in post =
If you want to customize the button in your post you write:
[ donate email="me@example.com" title="Donate for me once more" return_url=...]
That’s all!
= Customize in theme =
It’s nearly as easy as in posts. You write:
< ?php wordpress_paypal_donation('email=me@example.com&title=Donate for me&...); ?>
Live demo (at the bottom)!

Hi, I have a small suggestion. :)
How about text inserted in the email by default so we can know what for people are donating? For example, if we have the plugin installed on two websites, it would be cool to determine which site someone donated to.

@Iva: Good idea I am going to check this when i am back at home.

@Iva: You can set individual titles which are included in the email.

Perfect. Danke. :)
Not many plugin authors accept suggestions like you do, so I’m surprised in a very good way.

Thanks for that compliment.

I’m using WordPress 2.7 and I’m getting the following message when I try to get into the settings:
Cannot load wordpress-paypal-donation/wp-paypal-donation.php

I deactivated the other plugins, leaving only the PayPal donation. but it still gives me the same error. have you heard of this happening before?
help! I would like to really use this plugin.
12. Dezember 2008 um 22:55
Hi scw,
I just installed cformsII and there are no conflicts. It’s not possible for me to test it with wp-Members because it is a shareware plugin.
Can you give me more details? Any problems with the installation/activation?
Regards Thomas

I found that using the https button from PayPal causes an error when updating the plug-in page. You have to use a local custom button.
Thanks for the plug-in.

I installed this plug-in and activated it, but when I click on “PayPal Donation” under the Settings tab I get this message:

Hi Thomas,
Nice and easy plug-in! Two things: in the settings I put my own email address. In a test post I press the button, and I see my own email in the ‘log in’ field of Paypal.
At the ‘cancel’ URL also my email is displayed, not my ‘cancel url’ as specified.
Thanks in advance!
Fred

Hey , thank you for the plugin and the efforts.
I installed it on my 2.8.5 WP , activated, and pasted the code into my sidebar php file.
It doesnt work,I get this in my blog where the donate button is supposed to appear:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/**********/wp-content/themes/pride/sidebar.php on line 81
I have certainly removed the space from the beginning of the code you provided:
Not:
“”
But
“”
What could the reason be

I’ve downloaded the plugin and installed it. In the screenshot above there are two boxes in the “Where to go” section. They are not showing up in my installation. I’m using the newest version of WordPress. Is that why? How can I fix it? Thank you for your assistance.
26. September 2009 um 02:53
Doesn’t work on my setup at all. Just acts like it does on this blog an unclickable word [Donate] visible just like that.

Hi Wolf,
that was because I have forgotten to activate the plugin. It should work now.

Hey Thomas,
Nice plugin. I had trouble activating it though. When I tried activating it I kept getting a PHP error:
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in D:\\Web\\hiddentao\\root\\wp-content\\plugins\\wordpress-paypal-donation\\wp-paypal-donation.php on line 331
I’m running PHP 5.2.6 on Apache 2.2.9 on WinXP Pro.
After some debugging I found that the problem was the big block of HTML code inside the wpdon_options() method. I took all this code and placed into a new file called admin-block.php in the plugin’s folder. I then replaced the original block in wpdon_options() with a single line:
require_once(‘admin-block.php’);
Now I am able to activate and use this plugin fine. If any other users have this problem then the solution is as I’ve outlined.
Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Hi,
I’m usig your plugin. It’s very simple and needs no translation.
However it would be nice to have a “actual budget”/”target budget” option to show users what has been donated.

How can I add the donate button in the sidebar? The [donate] won’t work there :(
7. Dezember 2009 um 08:32
I want to add your plugin on this site. I have installed, done the settings but how can I add it to me post. There is no option to add on individual post. I dont want it to be on sidebar. I want it to display on bottom of my post.
7. Dezember 2009 um 11:01
You can add it on every post with [donate].
7. Dezember 2009 um 11:04
You can add within the sidebar by using this function:
wordpress_paypal_donation();10. Dezember 2009 um 09:50

How to insert button in a widget?
Bracket-donate-bracket doesn’t appear to work.
29. Dezember 2009 um 04:48
is there a way that the donor could put in the amount rather than having a pre-set amount for them already? Thanks for the plug-in!
3. Januar 2010 um 22:35
Hey
Nice plugin, but but but, don’t know when, but Paypal has changed the link you need to go to on paypal (recently), so if you click the donate button it wants to redirect you, and suddenly you are on Paypals homepage without donate information (e-mail amount etc.)
25. Januar 2010 um 20:21
I am using your plugin, paypal-donation-manager, on a website that I am creating for a client with wordpress. Iit seems to work great so far on 2.9.1 – thanks. I have encountered one problem that I thought you should know about.
In wordpress-paypal-donation.php, version 1.01, on line 242, you use the php_short_open_tag syntax of <? rather than <?php. I have short open tags turned off as I am using php to process xml files and short open tags cause an issue there.
I simply modified this to <?php and now it is working just fine on the site.
Thanks again for the plugin!
Ken

Hello Thomas
Nice plugin ! I find out how to use it in the Posts. I would like if you could explain me where in the code I have to put wordpress_paypal_donation(); so it will appear in my sidebar
also.
I tried to look in the Theme code but im scared to add it in a wrong way and mess something up….Could you explain a bit more specific please….Thanks

Would be great to leave the donation amount editable to the users.
Other than that, it’s a good little plug-in.
